Your Crew
Meet Mente
Mente is a seasoned sailor with a lifelong passion for water sports. From the age of 6 he was drawn to the water and started sailing on lasers and Hobie catamarans. While growing up in the Netherlands, almost all of Mente’s free time would be spent sailing, and eventually he became a sailing instructor, passing on his love for the sport to others.
At the age of 16, Mente joined School at Sea, a 6-month program, covering over 11,000 miles, all while following the high school curriculum on board. It was this journey that sparked his interest in ocean sailing.
Following high school, Mente joined the 249ft 3-masted Clipper Stad Amsterdam. He worked on deck for 3 years, while also pursuing a Maritime Officer’s education at Enkhuizen Nautical College during his time off. It was during this time on board the Stad Amsterdam when Annick and Mente met.
After those 3 years of sailing around the world, Mente pursued an academic Bachelor in Science & Innovation Management, as well as a Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship. During this time, he would occasionally run charters in Croatia and Sardinia in summer. Now that he has successfully completed his degrees, he eagerly has returned to sailing in the BVI.
Mente loves sharing his sailing knowledge and passion with guests just as much as he enjoys showing them the blue world both above and below the water’s surface. Together, Mente and Annick embody the spirit of adventure and hospitality and are ready to welcome you aboard for an unforgettable journey on board Andiamo.

Meet Annick
Introducing Annick, who grew up in the Netherlands and has been sailing since she was a little girl. Whether through sailing vacations or sailing camps, she was always around water. Her journey into hospitality began at the age of 14 when she started working at a restaurant, where her positive energy and welcoming smile quickly became her signature. Her passion for hospitality led her to the International Hospitality School in the Netherlands, where she honed her skills and transformed her love for hospitality and culinary arts into a career. During her studies, she pursued an internship at a luxury hotel in Cape Town.
Surrounded by boats and water her entire life, Annick couldn’t resist the sensation of the wind in her hair and the salt on her skin. After completing her studies, she combined her two passions and applied to work aboard the Stad Amsterdam, a 3-masted tall ship, where she sailed the world as a Hospitality Manager. The challenges brought on by COVID led her to transition to a land-based job and after spending 2.5 years behind a desk, Annick is thrilled to be back on the water where she belongs.
Annick owns her own 27ft sailboat and has lived on a houseboat in Amsterdam with Mente. Her greatest joy is providing friends & family with a true five-star experience on her sailboat or hosting dinner parties on their houseboat. She loves experimenting with new dishes, with Italian cuisine being her favorite. If you have any delicious Italian recipes, Annick is always eager to prepare them for you. She can’t wait to share the wonders of Andiamo with you and create unforgettable memories together on the water!

We just disembarked Andiamo after spending 5 days and 4 fabulous nights cruising the BVI’s with Mente and Annick. We could not have asked for more gracious hosts. Each day was filled with peaceful cruise time, snorkeling, and island explorations. Each meal was so thoughtfully prepared and served in beautifully presented fashion. Annick’s culinary expertise was quite evident and Mente’s grilling made for delicious meals and snacks. Their skills carried over to creative cocktails served each day! The weather was absolutely perfect. Sunny days with nice breezes to sail and cool clear nights to enjoy dining under the stars. Andiamo was such a comfortable vessel for our trip. Plenty of space to spread out and the cabins were quite comfortable. Mente and Annick truly made this such a memorable trip for 3 couples who live in 3 different states. Many thanks.
MARCH 2025
"Thank you so much for the amazing trip. We loved how you planned the best route for us and found so many lovely spots. We felt safe despite the wind and loved the sailing. The food was beyond wonderful. You exceeded our expectations by miles in every way. We all wish you the best in your future."
FEBRUARY 2024
"We had the privilege of spending our Christmas holiday on the Andiamo. The BVI and the Andiamo are both absolutely beautiful, but Mente and Annick are what made the trip exceptional. Their attention to detail and communication from the beginning was impeccable. They really went the extra mile. They had even gotten a little Christmas tree and other decorations. Annick made a the best turkey we have ever had for Christmas dinner and even made cookies for us to decorate on Christmas. Mente was always willing to teach us about sailing, do water sports, and even be our family portraits photographer. Every meal was delicious. Every day was spectacular. We have done a BVI charter before, but that trip was nothing compared to this one."
JANUARY 2025
"We had high expectations for our charter with Mente and Annick aboard Andiamo. From the first moment to the last, everything was spectacular! Food, cocktails, sailing lessons, perfect anchorage’s, hidden gems, fishing, water sports—simply everything was above and beyond. We will be back sailing with them again soon. If you were to ask our kids ( 3 boys under 10 years old), they would tell you it was the best vacation ever. They speak of Mente and Annick daily and they were all sad to leave Andiamo."
DECEMBER 2024
"We just returned home from the best vacation of our lives. My wife, three teenagers, and myself spent 6 perfect nights on Apricity with Mente and Annick. I can’t even begin to tell you how thoughtful and attentive they were to our every need and want. They were thorough but not overbearing at all. Mente kept us safe while teaching my son and I the basics of sailing, mooring, and anchoring the entire trip. He was happy to answer any questions we had about sailing and the boat in particular. Mente was very particular to pick the very best mooring ball or anchorage at each location. I’m sure he could have chosen other locations which would have been easier for him, but he wanted us to have the best experience available. Everything on the boat worked flawlessly because they are maintain as if it were their own. Annick prepared the most splendid meals, snacks, and drinks that you can imagine. Every meal was an absolute masterpiece that kept us wanting for more! They catered to our desired meal times and preferences, and she even made a key lime pie for me on the fly!! It was amazing!! The drinks were incredible and she taught us some new recipes along the way. Our relationship started as a contractual agreement, but we left as friends! If you’re considering an all inclusive trip to the BVI, do NOT pass up this wonderful team. You can thank me later!!"
JULY 2024
"I've been visiting the BVIs periodically since 1999 (at least 10 times). Some of the visits have been in our boat, others in bareboat charters. This was the first time we went for a crewed charter. The decision was made in part because not all in the group had sailing/boating experience and mostly because we wanted to rest and not worry about logistics, provisioning, cooking, reserving moorings, etc. The result...best vacation ever in the BVIs. Perfect combination between a great group of friends, very nice boat, great weather and above all, a superb crew. Annick and Mente made our trip truly memorable. In the food department, every day we woke up to experience a new height in delightful meals, fruit, snacks, desserts, etc. They made sure our favorite dr inks were available throughout the week + we got to try some of Annicks and Mente's delightful concoctions. On the cruising department, we felt very safe throughout the trip, testament to the crew's experience, judgement calls and professionalism. They got us to popular sites at times when these were not crowded and got us to less visited yet beautiful sites at peak times. They also kept the boat clean and in excellent working order. This is as far as I can go with words. Go ahead and book your trip. Life is short, enjoy!"
